'Stilgrenzen' My paintings try to mix various visual languages; digital/photographic sections, romantic landscapes and painterly abstractions cohabit the works, often tumultuously.

I am a painter and lecturer working in the midlands. My practice synthesises both historical and contemporary techniques; I use 3d rendering software to sculpt digital models for references, I then build the paintings up with tonal underpainting and glazes.

Generally, my paintings contain instances of disruption, overlaid found/invented imagery, destructive painting techniques, collage and distortion of the pictorial plane.
I combine traditional materials like rabbit skin glue-primed canvas and paper with fluorescent paint markers, spray paint and experimental media.

By drawing, rendering and reworking imagery from famous historical paintings and places, I try to disrupt the narrative and context of the subject's origins. A motif in my work has been a monolithic structure, derivative of B.F Skinner, Skinner Boxes, which I have begun to paint from digital renders in an almost photographic‚ language. This, alongside other motifs, is an effort to describe the monumental or the revered; something permanent as well as temporary, ethereal and digital.

I am concerned with the idea of experiential things like natural spaces and solid objects in a post-digital context and the simultaneity.
