A 2D, animated, short film about a young girl, who angers an ancient spirit of the forest. Only by correcting her mistake will she survive this encounter.

You can't always predict how a change of environment will affect you. Before starting my studies here in Coventry, I lived in Finland and I had a forest in which I could take regular walks right on my doorstep. These walks were important to me, I used them to digest and process all that was happening around me thanks to the isolation and serenity it provided. It was my refuge away from modern society’s fast paced living. Coventry did not have this and during my time here I was reminded of where I was constantly; living next to a busy roundabout off the ring road that connects the city together. There was nowhere to hide from the buzz of the city and it was clear that this environment could not be a starker contrast to my tranquil forest back in Finland.

This has driven me to investigate the subject further, as I feel in today’s busy and work-oriented world, we often forget how important it is to take a minute to marvel at the fantastic feats of nature and above all to give it the respect it deserves for all it has done for us.

So what makes nature so important? There are self-evident reasons, such as it provides most of the animal kingdom a location in which to live, find food, shelter and even a place to call home. My investigation however will focus on the relationship between humans and nature as well as the importance it has on our mental health.
