My name is Katie Bartram; I am a third year History student at Coventry University. Over the past three years, we have had several opportunities to produce documentary films as a form of coursework. I chose to discuss the impact of Disney on our younger generation because it is something that I have seen develop over my own lifetime

Throughout my degree, I have studied several modules on minorities, including women, the BAME community and the Native American community. The focus on these individuals pushed me towards focusing my documentary on the journey Disney has taken us on over the last 100 years as a storyteller. Disney can be used as an indication for the societal position of women, including women from ethnic backgrounds, throughout the 20th century and sharing this was my aim. I wanted to showcase the clever thought put into the Disney Princess films and how they subtly make a huge statement that was crucial in educating young people on the status of women.
