The sun did not know what it was until it hit the side of a building ~ Lois Khan

The Fraft is to Refract light, a building that responds to the importance of creating sustainable structures that respond to the contextual and wider aspirations of the community.

The Birmingham big city plan, predicts the decrease in the manufacturing output of the city by 2026 and gradual unemployment of Young adults between the ages of 18-25.

Historically in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, there was a mass of industrial manufacturing

Therefore to enhance and encourage circulation of the public into the Birmingham Jewellery quarter, whilst embracing industry the Fract is an apprenticeship building, with a mentorship programme that allows mentees to Create, Exhibit, and Sell. Visitors and the community can support the socio-economic growth of the project and quarter by purchasing products made by mentees on on-site shops.
