Building and public garden

Hello! My name is Anna and I have just finished my 3rd year of undergraduate architecture studies at Coventry University.  Throughout my three years of study, I have developed a strong interest in exploring the relationship between humans and nature, that is happening within architecture.

This final major 3rd-year project is a mixed-use building located within the area of Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The concept for the building was based on analysis of Jewellery Quarter’s previous and present typologies. In the past, this part of Birmingham was the creative hub full of small manufacturers and inventors that were crafting jewellery and small objects. Unfortunately, nowadays this unique character of the place is being lost by the growing amount of housing developments, offices and schools in the area. The proposed building is a biofabrication centre inspired by both past tradition of crafting and making and the present state of Jewellery Quarter full of offices and schools while starting a new chapter in the history of the area by encouraging the current global environmental goals.
