“The Deadline” follows Arthur, an English novelist who is struggling to write the perfect ending for the protagonist of his newest book. To fully concentrate on his writing, he seeks refuge in a cottage in the English countryside. As time goes on, he seems to slowly lose power over his character and his own mind, and the line between reality, hallucinations and supernatural becomes very thin.

Dead Pigeon Productions began the production of “The Deadline” in September 2019, with an international team from Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Kenya, Estonia, and the UK. The Deadline is a short psychological suspense thriller inspired by already existing horror and thriller films such as Carrie (1976), The Babadook (2014), Misery (1990), The Secret Window (2004), The Joker (2019) and Us (2019). The film explores the terror provoked by the delusional psychological state of Arthur, his detachment from reality and distorted mental perceptions. “The Deadline” aims actively challenge the social stigma surrounding mental illness representation, with a focus on schizophrenia, and how sufferers are usually portrayed in the media.
